AOA-ABMS Certification Reciprocity

Good news! Are you a physician that holds ABMS board certification? If so, you may also be eligible for AOA Board Certification!

Osteopathic physicians certified by an ABMS member board before Nov. 21, 2020, are now eligible for reciprocal board certification issued through their corresponding AOA specialty or subspecialty.

  • No initial certification exam
  • No initial certification fee for AOA members
  • $299 application fee for AOA non-members

Through this limited-time offer, ABMS-certified DOs can acquire AOA Board Certification without paying duplicate fees or taking high-stakes initial certification exams. To maintain AOA certification, DOs will need to meet requirements for Osteopathic Continuous Certification.

To apply, visit the AOA's ABMS Reciprocity page.
