The American College of Osteopathic Internists Board of Directors welcomes its new Resident Representative, John A. Arthur, DO. Dr. Arthur is a PGY-2 at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Fairborn, Ohio, where he is serving as a medical service corps officer for the United States Air Force and completing his Internal Medicine Residency at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He received his bachelor's degree in health science from the University of Florida, and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience (KCUMB) where he was part of the Military Honors Track program.
“When it came time to apply for medical school, I applied for the Health Professions Scholarship as my grandparents both served in the military, and I always felt a strong sense of duty to serve my country,” Dr. Arthur shared.
During medical school Dr. Arthur was a teaching assistant and tutor for the KCUMB-Joplin Anatomy Lab. His leadership experience includes a post as the student government class executive vice president, chair of the DO of the Year Committee, and a stint as Chair for the Council of Presidents.
Dr. Arthur joined the ACOI in 2021 and is a member of a multitude of professional medical organizations. His service on the ACOI Board will help bring a voice to the table from a resident's perspective.
