The American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) nationally elected SOIMA officers provide valuable input to ACOI on student issues and work to promote osteopathic internal medicine to their peers and at their osteopathic medical schools. SOIMA also provides a leadership opportunity for those who serve. Elected leaders serve as a resource to osteopathic internal medicine clubs across the country and help shape the future of osteopathic medicine for current and future medical students. The National SOIMA is a developing organization that continues to grow and evolve. The National SOIMA officers meet virtually every other month. All positions listed are for a one-year term.
The Vice-President supports the President, works to advance the initiatives of the organization, and serves as a strategic leader for the development of the goals and activities of the organization.
The Secretary serves as a strategic leader and is responsible for preparing meeting minutes and for corresponding with other student leaders to help advance the SOIMA activities.
The Regional Representatives serve as a liaison between the national SOIMA and the local chapters. They also work with the President, Vice-President, and Secretary to provide strategic leadership to SOIMA and serve as a voice of the local chapters. Regional Representative candidacy is determined by the geographic location of the nominee’s COM.
