ACOI Joins Organizations in Asking for Farm Policies that Support Climate and Health

The ACOI has joined 80 organizations in support of farm policy that prioritizes affordable and nutritious food and clean air and water. In a letter to Congress, the organizations emphasized the intersection of important nutrition programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and conservation programs, such as those that restore healthy soil and protect water supplies from agricultural run-off. At the end of 2023, President Biden signed into law legislation that extended the 2018 Farm Bill through September 30, 2024 allowing authorized programs to continue. It is unclear whether reauthorization of the Farm Bill can pass Congress this year or if another extension of current authorizations will be required.
