Countdown to Scottsdale: ACOI 2024 Brings the Community Together to Reconnect, Renew, and Build Relationships for Lifetime Learning

ACOI 2024, October 30-November 2, will be an invaluable opportunity for members of the ACOI Family to share an unforgettable experience of learning, renewal, and growth together. As the Annual Convention Chair, I’m greatly looking forward to connecting with many of you in Scottsdale, AZ, to explore this year’s theme, Art to Health: Health, Humanities and Osteopathic Internal Medicine.
 
We are thrilled to welcome new speakers and engage educational leaders in their respective fields. Our impressive lineup of keynotes includes Steven Lome, DO, cardiologist and lifestyle medicine expert who founded HeartStrong.com. He will tell his amazing story of performing CPR to save the lives of two runners who collapsed from fatal arrhythmia during a half marathon in 2022 and explain how this seminal episode impacted his daily practice. Dr. Lome’s life-changing milestone of transforming his own health by embracing a plant-based diet, incorporating exercise, and cultivating other habits through lifestyle medicine will inspire others in their own journeys too.
 
Whether you are a practicing physician or are a resident or student, attending ACOI 2024 is an incredibly worthwhile investment. Internal medicine physicians and subspecialists will enjoy a bevy of opportunities to see colleagues and friends while making new memories and adding to their knowledge with insights about the latest trends. From my own experience, by attending Annual Conventions regularly, you’ll establish a foundation to make connections, forge relationships, and create a network of support that lasts a lifetime. In addition, the powerful bonds that I have seen form year after year at these unique events always prove to be indispensable assets in empowering physicians at each level of practice to develop competencies, collaborate, and find solutions to help their practices thrive.

The Annual Convention has evolved to meet the needs of our community and is a special time to cherish because it has become a touchstone for members of my family. The venues, locations, and activities are reliably fabulous and never disappoint. There is always something fun or interesting to do.

Doors have been opened for me to travel and venture to places I would have never gone. I wanted to share that experience with those I love, so I brought my children to some of the Annual Conventions to help broaden their horizons and enjoy some of the moments I did. Over time, we built so many happy memories to look back on that we still talk about with great fondness to this day. 

ACOI 2024 will present many dynamic ways for attendees to expand their knowledge and hone their skills while meeting some of the most committed, accomplished, and brilliant physicians I know who care about the osteopathic IM community and making life better for all patients.
