Final President's Letter from Dr. Hasty

by Robert T. Hasty, DO, FACOI, FACP
ACOI President

November 12, 2024

I have had the pleasure and honor of being the ACOI President from 2023-2024. I am proud to report that working with the ACOI Board of Directors, the ACOI leadership team, and the ACOI Committees, it has been a successful year. Much of the work that we have done was with the foundation and operation of the organization that will set us up for success in the years and decades to come. Some of the highlights include a successful ACOI 2024 in Scottsdale, Arizona, growth in our Online Learning Center,  a current trend in higher membership numbers, and we have increased the number of student members to over 3,000! I am also excited with the quality, skills, and culture of our Board of Directors as well as the ACOI employed team.

It was also the most transformative year of my personal life. I started America’s newest medical school, I lost 55 pounds using Zepbound (and became the healthiest that I have been in years) and was blessed with many personal recognitions while serving as the President of the ACOI. I credit the ACOI as being instrumental to so many of my successes over my career and I am grateful and appreciative. I would not be where I am if it were not for the ACOI and the members.

I am also grateful to the ACOI for publishing a series of articles over the past year. I took it as an opportunity to share some of the things that I have learned throughout my career with the hope that they might be helpful with other members. If you haven’t had the opportunity to read them, I would certainly encourage you to take a look at them in the following links:

At the conclusion of my term as President of the ACOI, I would like to share my blessing to all members that the ACOI has the same positive impact on your personal and professional lives as it has had on mine. I am enthusiastic about the future of the ACOI in that I feel that it will continue to positively influence osteopathic internal medicine (and subspecialties) for generations to come and I am hopeful with the positive direction of the next chapter of the organization and the potential that it has to empower so many.
