
Ryan Costello, DO, FACOI, has been accepted into the 2025 American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Leadership Academy. The AOA Leadership Academy is a nine-month program designed to cultivate future leaders within the osteopathic profession and beyond. Participants complete this program with a graduation at OMED 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. Congratulations to Dr. Costello on this honor!

Michael Foti, DO, is running for America’s Favorite Teacher! America’s Favorite Teacher is a contest hosted by Bill Nye and open to teachers across the U.S. Dr. Foti serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Standardized Patient Program Coordinator at TouroCOM Middletown. He shared that he became an educator “to inspire the next generation of physicians. I deeply understand the difficult and challenging journey they face and the invaluable role a mentor and guiding light can play in their lives. The gratitude they show day in and day out continues to reinforce my journey in medical education.” The winner of the contest receives $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, and an appearance in Reader's Digest. Karen Nichols, DO, MACOI, and Robert Juhasz, DO, MACOI, served as co-presenters for The Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) Leadership Committee’s January Leadership Series Event, “Trailblazers and Torchbearers: The Power of Being the First.” COSGP is an official council of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). It serves as a liaison between osteopathic professional organizations as well as the official national representative voting voice of osteopathic medical students. Amanda Sedlacek, DO, FACOI, recently presented at the 2025 Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care in Denver, Colorado. The event was hosted by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Sedlacek presented on two topics: “Developing Interprofessional Team Skills: A Palliative Care Simulation” and “Facilitating Comfort with Palliative Conversations through a Virtual Interdisciplinary Palliative Care Seminar.” These presentations demonstrated Dr. Sedlacek’s expertise in clinical palliative care and training healthcare professionals in team-based care and communication.
