Student Doctor Cannon was nominated for her exceptional dedication, passion, and contributions to her academic community. Her commitment to academic excellence is unwavering, consistently demonstrating a deep understanding of osteopathic principles and their application in clinical practice.

Beyond her academic achievements, Anja is known for her compassionate and empathetic nature. She consistently goes above and beyond to support her peers, offering guidance, encouragement, and assistance whenever needed. Her willingness to collaborate and share knowledge fosters a supportive learning environment that benefits everyone, especially our first-year students who she tutors as an academic peer support liaison.

What is your hometown?
Claysville, PA (a very small place!)

What is your education?
Chemistry Pre-medicine B.S. and Biology Minor from Ohio University

What are your hobbies?

  • Gardening, gardening, gardening! I am obsessed with growing things and love to care for plants both indoor and outdoor
  • Tennis
  • Fishing
  • Video games, especially ones that I can garden in!
  • Baking

What are three things people may not know about you?

  • I have two dogs; a pug named Wrinkle and a shih tzu named Phillip Cheesesteak
  • I do not have a middle name which surprisingly has not caused any trouble with paperwork yet
  • I was the "tree person" on my high schools Envirothon team, and I'm now an amateur botanist and enjoy identifying local flora during hikes

How has ACOI helped you in your education so far?
ACOI has played a fundamental role in my medical education by providing numerous opportunities for personal and professional development. ACOI has kept me up to date on emerging practices and advancements, enhancing my clinical knowledge and skills. From the Annual Convention to free mentorship, leadership, and educational programs, ACOI provides a comprehensive level of excellence that benefits students, residents, and attending physicians alike. 

Do you have an idea of what specialty you would like to go into?
I am keeping an open mind as I head into my clinical years, but cardiology has definitely captured my attention!
