ACOI Congratulates its 2024 Fellows and Master Fellows

ACOI is delighted to announce the induction of 38 new Fellows, as well as eight new members of the Gillum Society of Master Fellows. During the ACOI 2024 Convocation and Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 1, ACOI president-elect Dr. Enright, and chair of Honors & Awards Committee, Dr. Hubbard led ACOI in recognizing this class of accomplished individuals.  

The Convocation and Awards Ceremony also celebrated the inaugural recipients of the ACOI Memorial Awards. The family of the late Dr. Malcoun presented the Anthony J. Malcoun Award to Paul W. Davis, DO, and the family of the late Dr. Susser presented the David Susser Award to Lucia Schroeder, DO, MPH, and Mohamad Omar Diab, MBBS.

To apply for the Fellow distinction, candidates must be nominated by a standing Fellow, as well as endorsed by a second physician colleague (who may or may not be a Fellow). Once accepted, ACOI Fellows can access numerous benefits, including professional recognition, meaningful community engagement, and extensive leadership opportunities. Contributing to ACOI committees, engaging with the Board of Directors, and taking on speaking opportunities are just a few of the ways Fellows make their mark on the ACOI and osteopathic internist community. Fellows add the FACOI designation to their names professionally.  

After 10 years as Fellows, and 15 years of ACOI membership, Fellows are eligible to apply and be nominated for the Gillum Society of Masters. The Society is named for Grover Gillum, DO, a past president of ACOI, leader in education, and outstanding clinician. The distinction is awarded to active members whose contributions to either ACOI or osteopathic internal medicine are outstanding and noteworthy on a local, regional, or national level. Master Fellows add the MACOI designation to their names professionally. 

Congratulations to the new Master Fellows and Fellows. Nominations for the 2025 Fellows and Master Fellows will open in early 2025.
