American College of Osteopathic Internists Names New President

Susan M. Enright, DO, MACOI, Selected to Lead Premier Osteopathic Internist Association for 2024-2025  

The American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI), a national professional organization representing osteopathic internal medicine physicians and subspecialists, announced the appointment of Susan M. Enright, DO, MACOI, as President for 2024-2025. The announcement was made during the ACOI 2024 Annual Convention & Scientific Sessions in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Dr. Enright, who has been an ACOI member since 1998, and part of the ACOI Board of Directors since 2016, spoke to her goals and vision: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to build upon my years with ACOI and continue fostering the growth of our community. My hope is to continue building meaningful connections with new members, especially students and residents, and support a new generation of osteopathic internists.”

Board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM), Dr. Enright is currently the Associate Dean for Clerkship Education at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  

After graduating from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991, Dr. Enright completed her Internal Medicine residency at Flint Osteopathic Hospital in Flint, Michigan, from 1991 to 1994. She completed an emergency medicine residency with Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan, from 1994 to 1996.

Prior to her current position, Dr. Enright was the Director of Clerkship at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. This role built upon her extensive experience at the Genesys Regional Medical Center, where she served as Program Director of Internal Medicine Residency, Program Director of Internships, and Student Director (2001 to 2017). She was recognized several times at Genesys Regional Medical Center as an outstanding faculty member and educator. Dr. Enright has also been part of numerous committees, including the UME-GME Review Committee of the Coalition for Physician Accountability, the ACGME Board of Directors, and the College Curriculum Committee at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
